The Band Toto Asia
Toto was expanding its production facilities overseas and was doing business in France, Germany, Indonesia, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the People's Republic of China. Toto saw North America as a growth market for Washlet's bidets and toilets, in contrast to its "base" markets of Japan and China.
Dhaniram Toto recorded Toto words to ensure that the future generation could read them. However, many of the words were being replaced by foreign words, such as dui, which is Bengali for verandah.
Origins
Toto's early history, which began in 1917, mirrored Japan's rapid economic expansion. In the beginning, Toto produced products to meet the growing demand for modern, new urban housing. It was the first tunnel kilns in the country to continuously produce ceramics. It also pioneered the use automation to control production, allowing for more efficiency and consistency.
The company began expanding internationally in the latter part of the 1980s to profit from new markets and sales opportunities. It created the Cera Trading Company, importing and selling other products of manufacturers to complement its own range of sanitary earthenware and plumbing fittings. This strategy increased sales and increased the company's market share.
By the 1990s, Toto had shifted its focus on research and development for water-related household appliances. It also upgraded its distribution system to better meet the needs of its customers and increase profits. The company adopted a just-in-time approach to managing its supply chain, and it used the same approach in its sales strategy. This resulted in a higher level of customer satisfaction.
Toto has continued to innovate in the toilet technology. Its most recent toilet, for example, has a strong tornado flush that is more eco green than traditional toilets. Toto also makes use of recycled water in its manufacturing process and has a green procurement policy. Apart from toilets, Toto manufactures bathtubs and faucets and hand dryers that are more efficient in energy use than standard models.
The first museum of the company was opened in the year 2015 It has exhibits on Toto's most iconic products and their development and its group companies (all having to do with ceramics) as well as the history of plumbing and other products like bath units and, in a different gallery, Toto products sold around the world. The museum even has a bathroom that includes a WASHLET toilet and other toilet-related innovations.
Before beginning the formation of Toto members of the group performed sessions for a variety of musicians. Boz Scaggs' album Silk Degrees featured keyboardist David Paich as well as guitarists Mike Porcaro & Steve Lukather, drummers Jeff Porcaro & Steve Lukather. They also performed on albums by Steely Don, Seals and Crofts and Sonny and Cher.
Discography
With a name like Asia, you would expect the group to be prog kings and queens - but it's actually a fairly simple rock group. The band has a varied musical background, but their greatest success was in 1982 with Toto IV.

Totopia.kr) they would rescind the album. Toto was able to do this through the aid of the smash hit "Africa."
Toto's musical mastery is the result of their previous experience. Before forming the group, the members were session musicians for artists such as Boz Scaggs. Steely Dan and Seals and Crofts. Their distinctive sound has since become the standard for '80s pop, and has influenced many contemporary artists.
The album opens up hard with tracks like Running Out of Time or Unknown Soldier that show the band's ability to write great AOR tunes that slowly creep into your head. However, the album also includes some slower, more jazzy tracks like The Little Things and Chinatown. The album ends with Great Expectations. This song is a mix of folk and the distorted AOR, which should sound completely wrong but actually works extremely well.
After Toto IV The band's fortunes turned towards the negative. David Hungate left to concentrate on his solo career, and the band was through numerous drummers. In 1984, Bobby Kimball was fired from the group in the aftermath of drug-related charges. However, the band continued as a trio featuring Michael Porcaro and Steve Lukather.
Toto released Isolation despite the turmoil. It was not as popular as IV. The band was able to release an album that topped the charts, Kingdom of Desire, in 1992. This album marked the conclusion of the original Toto lineup and was the first album to feature a new singer, Simon Phillips.

Line-up
Turn Back, the band's third studio album is an ode to the traditional sextet style and it was a more consistent, more powerful effort with a harder edge. Its more punk-rock sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group, with drummer Bobby Kimball's improved virtuosity on drums, and an improved, mature vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard skills were also more sophisticated, sharper and less akin to earlier efforts.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live concert in Amsterdam which was released as a two-CD set titled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a new studio album a few months after and embarked on a world tour promote it. During this time keyboardist Greg Phillinganes replaced Paich and bassist David Hungate quit the group to spend time with his family.
In 1998, Paich & Lukather began exploring old tapes and demos to discover songs that hadn't been recorded prior to. It was completed in 2001 as a duo album titled Then and Now. It was the first album by the band without one single track titled "A". The album also contained a previously unreleased track "Kari-Anne".

The group's fourth album, Old Is New was a commercial failure and vocalist Williams was suffering from laryngitis, which restricted his singing capabilities. Additionally, Hungate returned to Nashville and drummer Leland Sklar was replaced by Shem von Schroeck.
Downes and the other original members of Asia - Wetton, Palmer, and Howe--convened an event in England in early 2006 to discuss the possibility of formally reforming the group. The lineup, which was minus Howe (who was a member of Yes at the time) was eventually referred to as Toto XIV and toured extensively.
In 2010, the band reunited for another reunion tour with a slightly different line-up, including guitarists Mike Porcaro and Steve Lukather, drummer John Pierce, bassist Shannon Forrest, and multi-instrumentalists Warren Ham and Dominique Taplin. The group also featured a special appearance by singer Michael McDonald and a backing vocalist named Mabvuto Carver.
